First Prototype: How'd We Do? What Went Wrong? What Do De Need to Fix? Going through this process of creating a prototype I wanted to make sure I had both pieces, mask and dagger, in order to snuff out the errors this week so next week I could correct them for the final piece. To start after last week having lost all my previous work on my dagger I had to work creating a new model and so I did. I chose to simplify this from the previous design I had to make it more realistic to the refernece dagger. For a quick breakdown of our pieces I doccumented the unfolding processes for each piece, And recorded the Rhino Templates along with the printed version templates, From here I could get to work on my templates scoring and cutting them out. I used the basic paperclip and ruler for scoring while using an xacto knife for cutting out. Unfortanultey I made...
Mesh Mashup Extravaganza! To start diving into our mesh mashup project I tried to use a range of ideas when exploring remix. Because remix culture covers a wild variety of genres and effects many different things I thought it was important to branch out how I express my ideas. To do this I explored prompts such as a piece with narrative, a look at existing name brands, and stories that connected to my personal life. But before we can explore remix culture for this project first I have to ask myeslf, what does remix culture mean to me? Something I never really considered was how prominent remix culture is for artists. As artists the creation of art is insanely important to us all, we have sources of inspiration and things that give us a drive to create. When I thought about this deeper I came up with a surprising revaluation to me, all artists participate in remix culture. It's something that is so obvious but I had never thought about it before. Ever artists has sources they take...
Sense of Deja Vu?? For this project we were tasked in creating papercraft sample and unfolding them to show our grasp of the concept and help us as we hit our next milestone. But what to create..... Now wait a moment, we've seen this before! In order to do this project I wanted to try and recreate a simplified version of my first project. I simplified it as we’re trying to get a better idea of Rhino for our papercraft and while I could have remade the entire project it wouldn’t have worked as a paper craft with all it’s holes. I experimented with unrolling reguar shapes that can be procuded by rhino and creating my own shapes, here some of the break down: Shapes I created my own here were the cross and the bumpers in the bottom right And in Fashion of keeping a style let's get a blast from the last milestone project. Our Boxing ring and simplified meteor are back! Lets take a look at some of our breakdown. I created the meterorite from scratch in this piece:
